Pharmacogenetics Dinner as Presented by DNA STAT
Date: Thursday, January 29, 2015
Time: 6:00 - 9:00 pm
Location: Willis Tower, The Metropolitan Club (Erie Room)
Cost: Complimentary
The evening provides a peer-to-peer overview of Pharmacogenetics in two ways; first from a scientific point, as presented by Dr. Subha Srinivasan, PhD., the Director of Pharmacology at DNA STAT, and from a clinical perspective with case reviews by Dr. Dale Bradley MD., Chief Medical Officer at DNA STAT.
Pharmacogenetics, which refers to the branch of pharmacology were the focus is on the effect of genetic factors on reactions to drugs. Genetic differences in metabolic pathways can significantly affect individual responses to drugs, both in terms of therapeutic effect as well as adverse effects. ADR’s are one of the major causes in death each year and balancing multiple-medication patients can be difficult.
Pharmacogenetics (Testing for Medication Sensitivity) is considered by many the essence of “do no harm medicine”. Pharmacogenetics will help you understand the risk associated with Black Box Warning Labels and ADR risk mitigation. Q&A session will follow each presenter.
RSVP is required as seating is limited
